A Happy Place: The Living Room

Jan 13

Thought I would share a happy corner of my home. The Boo and I spend a LOT of time in the open space that is the living room, kitchen and dining room. I recently purchased a few cushions for the sofas from Etsy shop Milk & Cookies. Previously we had four identical, shiny red cushions – two on each love seat -  but they somehow got shredded over the years.  Eager to inject a new dose of pretty into my life, I decided to switch it up with some mix-and-match patterns. My favourite is probably the grey and white Kelly Wearstler print cushion in the second photo below. I’d like to eventually add a few more with shaggy or sparkly textures. What a great way to make change in your home without a big money or time investment.

I wanna know: what’s your favourite room in your home?

Pretty Pillows

With our couch cushions in tatters, I’ve been trying to figure out how to replace them. I have been really inspired by these pretty mixes of pillows; these folks mix solids, zigzags, stripes, suzanis, ikat, Greek keys, pictorial, florals and more in such a coordinated way.  I need to figure out how to do this – let me know if you have any tips.

Mouse and Bean

Glasgow-based Mouse and Bean has created some sweet cushions with some old school-style prints and patterns.  Almost as cool as the cushions’ designs is how they’re made: they’re eco-friendly and ethically produced, as they’re printed on organic textiles with water-based inks. Pretty sweet.

At the moment, I am loving white floor boards,

cute notebooks,

this chinoiserie duvet cover,

high-waisted chic,

rainbow assortments,

literary mugs,

country-style meets eclecticism,

ruffles on pillows,

and Chloe Sevigny fashion shoots.

Rie Elise Larsen’s Colourful Home Items

Danish designer Rae Elise Larsen‘s work is my cup of tea. These very girly boxes, lamps, paper goods, cushions and kitchen towels (among other things) are playful and bright. I love that she even sells lamp cords covered in a variety of colours. These items are a great choice for adding a pop of colour to any room.
