Draper-Striped Bedroom

We’ve had the same duvet cover for five years and to be honest, I’m feeling pretty MEH about it.  Seeing as we won’t move for at least a year or two, I wanted to redecorate a bit to keep the space fun and fresh. I have been eyeing Dwell Studio’s Draper Stripe duvet set for a while and yesterday, I finally made the plunge and ordered it online!

Anyone who reads home decor blogs has seen this design at least a few times. I love its classic look that combines grey stripes with a dark yellow trim.

Dwell Studio’s Draper Stripe was inspired by Dorothy Draper, a pioneer of sorts of the interior design profession. She established the first interior design firm in the U.S. in 1923, which was a pretty “out there” concept at the time. So was the idea of a woman starting and running a business. Dorothy Draper was a pretty impressive lady all-around! Learn more about Dorothy Draper here.

I’ll be sure to post some before-and-after photos once our bedroom makeover is complete!

Dans La Rue

So many bloggers are buzzing with excitement about Rue Magazine, which will launch next month. I was already a fan of the founders’ blogs for their impeccable tastes (Plush Palate, Sacramento Street & The City Sage) and seeing ShelterPop’s sneak peak certainly whet my appetite for the complete first issue!

Let me count the ways I love this bedroom: 1) the chandelier-in-the-bedroom trend, done differently, 2) the pristine whites mixed up with antique and more ornate touches such as the frames and mirrors 3) the U.S. Mail pillows – are those vintage mail bags??, 4) the framed butterfly collections on the floor next to each nightstand, 5) the sunburst mirror above the bed is SO pretty and 6) I just want to jump in that bed! And sleep in it.

Feasting My Eyes On…

At the moment, I am loving colourful chairs in neutral settings,

brushtroke motifs on tops,

quirky wine-label design,

wooden walls and hues of blues,

summery hats,

cute notebooks for scribbling your thoughts,

this amazing bedroom,

and vintage swimming caps.
