I’m thinking of sitting on my balcony with young families milling about below. Everyone is outdoors because being indoors is untenable in this hot weather. My painted toes are in flip-flops, a glass of white wine and a magazine are in my hands, my feet are up, my phone is at the ready and there’s one of these cute-as-hell tables right next to me… Aaaah. Je l’aimais is an incredibly powerful novella by one of my favourite French authors, Anna Gavalda.  Called Someone I Loved in its English translation, the book is about the unravelling of relationships, adultery and its nasty but sometimes valuable consequences. It is heart-wrenching to read, but beautiful overall.

This outfit matches the cover and I can also picture the main character, Chloé, wearing this. It’s simple but classic, comfortable yet chic.
