Pretty Pillows

2010

With our couch cushions in tatters, I’ve been trying to figure out how to replace them. I have been really inspired by these pretty mixes of pillows; these folks mix solids, zigzags, stripes, suzanis, ikat, Greek keys, pictorial, florals and more in such a coordinated way.  I need to figure out how to do this – let me know if you have any tips.

There’s something one clearly needs to admire when you see pillows put together like this — frankly, I couldn’t do it. All the patterns and colors overwhelm me when I’m shopping, but I absolutely love these finished collections! They’re so homey and inviting.

love the patterned pillows. and those plates on the wall with fluorescent pom poms? genius!

my advice would be to not overthink it – just go crazy and don’t worry about if things will match or not. maybe you’ll edit out one or two patterns when you get everything home, but these looks are all about pattern overload!

Hi Caroline, thanks for popping by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. Love the name of your blog (I’m a ‘red’ girl, and I wear glasses!), and the focus of your blog.

I’ll definitely be popping back in to see what you’re up to….. and am about to take a wander through your Home Decor and Interiors category. :)

What a great post this one is! I LOVE cushions (am about to open an online shop dedicated to them soon), and wish I had a wardrobe just for cushions at my place. That way I could change the look of my room whenever I want just like I change my own look by changing my clothes!

They bring such personality and uniqueness to a room!

Good advice from Jen above…. just go with what ‘calls’ to you. Perhaps pick an underlying theme like a colour or pattern that flows through to some extent. Zig-zags and stripes and florals always go well together. I love anything paisley too! Big, bold prints (like in that first photo) make a great impact!

You obviously have a great ‘eye’, so you’ll be fine.

    Linda. :)
