Nostalgia and Road Trips

American Gold is a clothing line drawing heavily on nostalgia and the spirit of road tripping: Indian summers, taxidermy, roadside flea markets, playing hooky and living free, among other things. Makes me want to hit the road!

Below, a few shots from the fall-winter collection.

Pin It Forward: What Home Means To Me

2010

Today I’m participating in sfgirlbybay‘s newest blogger collab, Pin It Forward. The theme? What home means to me.

For a homebody like me, home is everything! Among other things, it is a place of peace & relaxation.

A place for diving into my books.

And also a place to surround myself with love.

Check out my pinboard for more examples of what home means to me. You’ll also find all of the photo credits.

Tomorrow, don’t forget to check out what home means to Toast & Most.

The Quest for the Ottoman

2010

Richy and I are “feet putter-uppers”: we like to have our feet up when we’re sitting on the sofa.  I’m therefore looking for an ottoman or a poof so we can kick back in style.  Last weekend in Chicago, I was quite smitten with everything (and I mean everything) in Jonathan Adler‘s shop – I was very much like a kid in a candy shop.  Among other perfect home decor gems, I fell in love with this lovely ottoman, the x-bench.   You can have it upholstered in a variety of fabrics, patterns and colours.  Unfortunately an ottoman doesn’t exactly travel well in a suitcase; I’m stuck with Montreal offerings when it comes to furniture… But a girl can dream, no?

Naturally Creepy Harakiri

Jun 24
2010

Harakiri is a creepy-cool jewellery brand created right here in Montreal. These beautiful pieces cast in sterling silver make use of real animal materials such as feathers, bird skulls, shark teeth, fish bones and shells. Sure, that’s a little sinister but it also makes for strikingly gorgeous jewellery.

You can buy straight from the creator’s website, or check out one of the stockists in Montreal.
