Fabulous Cross Stitch Art

Mar 30

Erin of Slipcover Your Life has just launched a lovely Etsy shop full of too-cute-to-be cross stitch art. How adorable is the dachshund that spans two frames? These cheeky craftpieces would make a great conversation piece on your wall.

And if you want the satisfaction of making your own, Erin also sells cross stitch kits. Bravo Erin!

One Dress, A Dozen Looks

Coolest project ever! Mod Cloth gave a dozen bloggers the same dress to style their own way. I love seeing what each one has done with it! Of the eight bloggers who have posted so far, one girl has made it look like a skirt with a thick grey sweater worn over top. Two have worn it as a top. A couple made it more casual by pairing it with denim whereas others made it fancier with heels, flowers or tulle.

Which one is your favourite? My personal one is the second down on the left (from the blog Selective Potential).

Wine Crates and Coffee Bags

Well isn’t this kitchen perfect for the oenophile who wants to take his or her love of wine to the next level? This kitchen from ReadyMade Magazine features a rather ingenuous use of old wine crates: here, they become kitchen cupboards. It’s so cool to see an impermanent material such as this one being reused in a more permanent way.

Another example of smart reuse is a burlap coffee bag turned into a headboard cover (see below). Think of how many of these coffee bags must be discarded daily by cafés.

Burlap lends a sort of casual aesthetic that I really love. In this room, I love the way it contrasts with chicer elements such as the prim white sheets and the modern, dark wall.

Lundi Lunettes: Weekly Glasses Inspiration

Mar 29
2010

Happy Monday! This week is looking to be pretty packed but we’ve got both Friday and next Monday off for Easter. Four day weekends are the best. Whee!

So for the weekly glasses roundup. Round specs are definitely growing on me when styled in a really feminine way, such as in the picture above. I really need to buy some new glasses – I’m pretty fed up with the ones I have. Ideally I would have a couple of pairs that I could switch around – I always get bored quickly of a single pair.

Work/Life Balance

What a clever way to arrange books. Whoever thought up this idea is a smart cookie ’cause the space under sofas is normally wasted. Of course, this is mostly interesting for those with books coming out the wazoo such as yours truly.

Speaking of yours truly, I’m tired! I started a job as an account supervisor at an ad agency a couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten how mentally tiring agency work can get. While it’s fun, it can also turn you into a zombie if you’re not able to disconnect.  Which is what I fully plan on doing this weekend.  Lots of sleep and lots of time with Richy before he heads to Lebanon on Sunday. Probably some blogging, which I’ve been too busy to really do (whoops). And perhaps I’ll delve into one of my many books.

Happy weekend!
