Found Item Home Decor

This Chicago home featured on Apartment Therapy is a museum for the owner’s collections. This gallery owner’s self-described style: “I use an ‘amalgamated, fate-driven procurement process’ if you will.” From old school rotary phones to globes to discarded suitcases to shiny chrome toasters, there seems to be no found object that escapes this guy’s obsession with collection. His apartment is a work of art in and of itself: I don’t imagine that arranging all of these items harmoniously was a simple feat, but he pulls it off!

The Days of Disco

Love the faded look of this tee by A.P.C. -  you’d think it was straight outta the disco days. Or maybe it just looks inside out. Either way, I’m loving it!

A Stylish Home in Skåne

Mar 31
2010

What a great home this is in Skåne, Sweden. This beautiful place featured in Hus & Hem has some lovely touches of colour in an otherwise white and airy space.  Isn’t that yellow door fabulous?

It seems that when I see photos of Scandinavian homes they’re always awash in beautiful light – it must be a priority when they build homes there. It totally makes sense in a nordic climate to maximize the natural light you’re getting. We Canadians know a thing or two about short days during our frigid winters.  I wish home builders in Montreal would take a cue.

Juliette Hogan’s Ultra-Feminine Winter 2010 Line

Mar 30
2010

I blogged about Juliette Hogan a few weeks ago without exploring the rest of her work. Well I’m glad I finally did! Her ultra-feminine styles are breathtaking.  Isn’t the blue of that dress absolutely stunning? I wish this New Zealand designer’s line was carried in Montreal, but I don’t think it is.

I’m posting a few of my favourite pieces but don’t forget to check out the rest of her winter 2010 collection. It’s really worth a look.

Rie Elise Larsen’s Colourful Home Items

Danish designer Rae Elise Larsen‘s work is my cup of tea. These very girly boxes, lamps, paper goods, cushions and kitchen towels (among other things) are playful and bright. I love that she even sells lamp cords covered in a variety of colours. These items are a great choice for adding a pop of colour to any room.
